Joey Chestnut beat by Geoffrey Esper in the ice cream eating competition at the Indiana State Fair

INDIANAPOLIS – People gathered at the Indiana State Fair to watch world eating champion Joey Chestnut, and other competitive eaters attempt to break a world record.

The world record for ice cream eating was set last year by Miki Sudo at the Indiana State Fair, who ate 16.5 pints of ice cream in six minutes. No world records were broken Sunday.

Competitive eater Geoffrey Esper beat Joey Chestnut in this year’s competition.

The top 5 eaters from Sunday’s competition are below:

  1. Geoffrey Esper - 15.5 pints of ice cream in six minutes
  2. Joey Chestnut - 14.5 pints of ice cream in six minutes
  3. Juan Rodriguez - 12 pints of ice cream in six minutes
  4. Derek Jacobs and Brian Dudzinsky tied, who both ate 11.5 pints of ice cream in six minutes
