INDIANAPOLIS -- A group of residents in Indianapolis say they’ve finally gotten some response from the city after they say they’ve been asking for weeks for help with the homeless living in their neighborhood.
Last week, RTV6’s Stephanie Wade spoke to the neighbors after they started taking the initiative to clean the area up under the bridge near Pine and Georgia streets just south of downtown.
Indianapolis police say their homeless initiative supervisor was aware of the issue and they had handed letters to the people living under the bridge.

After spending hours of their time power-washing and cleaning up trash, neighbors say people are still living under the bridge and leaving mounds of trash behind.
City Neighborhood Advocate Isaac McCoy met with residents living in the area on Wednesday to discuss what can be done.
“I’m going to contact the Office of Public health and Safety, work with the DPW to see where our right-of-way is, what’s going on here and what are the legalities here,” said McCoy.
For now, it’s still unclear who owns the property where the homeless have been living, that’s a question McCoy will hopefully be able to answer after his meeting with city officials.
