MUNCIE, Ind. -- Police say a student from Ball State University was drunk when his vehicle hit a 9-year-old girl in a parking lot on campus.

The accident happened Saturday night following the homecoming football game.

Ball State police say Jaylon Miskel, 22, of Homewood, Illinois, struck the girl in an overflow parking lot on Tillotson Avenue.

The girl was taken to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital and then transported to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis where she's reportedly listed in fair condition with a skull fracture.

Miskel's blood alcohol content was .212 according to police.

He reportedly told officers that he was driving about 20 to 25 miles per hour and did not see the girl.

Miskel was arrested on a preliminary charge of driving while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury. He was released from the Delaware County Jail on Sunday after posting bond.
