Man gets 3 years in prison for hit-and-run that killed Karen Turner

INDIANAPOLIS -- An Indianapolis man was sentenced to three years in prison Wednesday after pleading guilty to the May hit-and-run death of Karen Turner.

Brian Ramsey, 45, was arrested in July in connection with the May 19 crash near the intersection of Holt Road and Sam Jones Expressway.

First responders pronounced Turner, 42, dead at the scene.

On Wednesday, Ramsey pleaded guilty to one count of causing death while operating a motor vehicle with a BAC greater than or equal to .15 and one count of causing serious injury operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

On the first count, Ramsey was sentenced to three years in the Indiana Department of Correction, plus five years of suspended driving privileges following his release.

On the second count, Ramsey was sentenced to serve one year in Marion County Community Corrections upon his release from prison.

Ramsey must also complete a court-ordered destructive decision panel and a substance abuse evaluation.
