INDIANAPOLIS -- Two people were killed early Monday morning in a shooting on Indianapolis' north side.

The shooting just before 12:30 a.m., when a patrolling officer with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department heard shots near the intersection of 34th Street and Keystone Avenue. The officer quickly responded to the gas station at the intersection, finding a man and woman unresponsive inside a vehicle.

The woman was taken to Eskenazi Hospital, where she died. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.  The victims were identified by the Marion County Coroner as Trevon Harris, 26, and Toshika Boler, 32.

"Having worked in this area, this is a great community," IMPD Sgt. Christopher Wilburn said. " There are good people in this area -- good homes. People who care for their homes and care for their kids. This is a tragedy and we're seeing this way too often."
