Chips and salsa, tacos and guacamole with powdered sugar donuts on the side - that’s my idea of a good Mexican meal.

Nada serves up that and much more in downtown Indianapolis, but prides itself on being a tacos and cocktails joint.

It has a variety of tacos to choose from, including: fried avocado, chile-marinated pork, battered hake, chicken al carbon, grilled salmon, crispy pork belly and shrimp verde, just to name a few.

I enjoyed the perfectly grilled salmon taco with chipotle crema, jalapeño corn pico and cilantro, and the tasty shrimp verde taco with arugula, radish, avocado, queso fresco and creamy lime dressing.

Of course, I couldn't pass up my favorites, chips and salsa. I ordered the trio, because you just can’t have enough salsa. It consists of fire-roasted tomato ancho, jalapeño salsa verde and habañero salsa. I added another one of my favorites: guacamole!

The modern Mexican fare doesn’t end with the tacos. There are chili-glazed crispy potatoes with scallions, and other appetizing small and large plates to choose from.

Nada, located at 11 W. Maryland St. in Indianapolis, has a casual, cozy atmosphere, and its decor catches your eye right when you walk in the door. It’s stylish, hip, and colorful.
